THE CREED
“Light up the darkness.”
Symphony, Urban Pop, Alternative R&B
“Seraphim” - a derivative of the word “angel” - represents light, fire, ardor & passion. Pop/R&B singer-songwriter, producer, dancer, Marck Angel’s new LP, “SERAPHIM”, metaphorically delivers that anthem into a seamless, urban-pop symphony that delves into multiple social, political & cultural issues affecting our world today.
The socially conscious, concept album, arced into 4 movements (architected in classical symphony form), lyrically addresses hard-hitting subject matters, such as: racism, bigotry, xenophobia, misogyny, political corruption, global warming, war, addiction, gun control, and suicide/depression… just to name a few. Angel, juxtaposes substantive lyrics over uptempo, danceable Pop, R&B and Hip-Hop grooves, infused with flares of Rock, Funk, House, Jazz, Folk, Classical & Gospel.
Delivering the message is Angel’s energetic, contra-tenor timbre - both full voice & falsetto - layered over lush melodic harmonies. With Angel at the helm of production - playing, writing, composing, arranging, producing & engineering 11 of the 14 tracks - additional production was harnessed from hip-hop production maestro, DJ Swanny River (“Fvckboy”), and production prodigies - Brian “B-Dubs” Wilson (“Faded”) & Joshua “Jenkster” Jenkins (“Candid”). Angel also totes an arsenal of featured artists on his musical trek, including: Fly Young Red (of “Throw Dat Boy P*ssy” rap hit fame), electro-hop royalty Baron Artist, Likwuid, Splash T, Los Lauren 718 and R.E.D. The album is also narrated with historical soundbite interludes from iconic public figures, such as: Nelson Mandela, James Baldwin, John F. Kennedy, Barack Obama, Nina Simone, Eartha Kitt and the great Dr. King.
Since it's release, "SERAPHIM" has earned a plethora of accolades, including three (3) Musicianship Wammie Awards finalist nominations: Best Pop Artist - 'Marck Angel', Best Pop Album - 'Seraphim', Best Pop Song - 'UP'. With the hit singles/visuals: “Justice” (spawning multiple 'Official Selection' laurels, including winning Cannes Shorts Film Festival for 'Best LGBTQ Short'), “Wings” (spawning an artist cover feature in “Get Out” Magazine), the 4 million viewed YouTube juggernaut, “Maybe” - Angel is set to release his forthcoming short film, “SERAPHIM: The Motion Picture”. The musical-drama, inspired & soundtracked by music from the LP, is set to be released in select theaters & via exclusive digital video platforms.
Inspired by the socially conscious works from artists such as Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Madonna and Prince, just to name a few, Marck Angel’s “SERAPHIM” is his love letter to the “Movement” - the collective movements for equity, equality & agency of marginalized & oppressed groups across the globe. The “message” - activism through music & dance… “Light Up The Darkness”.
Musical, Drama, Romance, Experimental
From the creators of the critically acclaimed album, “SERAPHIM” & based on the award-winning short film, “JUSTICE”, comes “SERAPHIM: The Motion Picture” - starring Pop/R&B sensation, Marck Angel (“Finding Me”, “Christopher Street”), web-series heartthrob, Donta Hensley (“Honest Men”, "Davenport Diaries"), and up & coming stage prodigy, Donnie E.
